Case study
CCE: a professional online home for a London higher-education provider
We rebuilt the entire website for Commonwealth College of Excellence from the ground up, delivering more than 40 pages of course, compliance, and policy content alongside a full SEO programme, giving a college founded in 1987 the online presence it had always deserved.
A long-established private higher-education college in the heart of North London
Commonwealth College of Excellence has been educating students from its North Finchley campus since 1987. For nearly four decades it has sat quietly on the High Road in Finchley, offering Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diplomas and Higher National Certificates to learners who need a flexible, work-friendly route into professional qualifications.
The college's three subject areas, Business, Computing, and Leadership and Management, are all validated by Pearson, one of the most widely recognised awarding bodies in UK higher education. Its students are largely working adults, career changers, and international learners who want a recognised qualification without the full commitment of a three-year degree. That is a meaningful offer. The problem was that the college's online presence was not doing it justice.

A college with nearly four decades of credibility
CCE has been educating students from its North Finchley campus since 1987, offering Pearson BTEC Level 5 qualifications in Business, Computing, and Leadership and Management to working adult learners who need a flexible, recognised route into professional qualifications.
Almost forty years of credibility, hidden behind a site that did not reflect it
When CCE came to us, the gap between what the college actually offered and what a prospective student encountered online was stark. A higher-education institution regulated and validated by Pearson BTEC, with a long track record of helping working adults into professional qualifications, deserves a website that communicates all of that with clarity and confidence. CCE did not have one.
For a prospective student comparing options, the website is often the first and most important impression. If the site is thin, disorganised, or hard to navigate, many will simply move on. For a college competing against online providers, larger London universities, and a growing number of private HE institutions, that is a serious problem. The college needed a complete rebuild, not a refresh, with every course, every compliance requirement, and every policy page properly in place, and with real search visibility to bring prospective students to it in the first place.
A complete website rebuild and full SEO programme, planned and delivered as one
We took on both the build and the visibility work together, so every decision made during the build served the SEO, and every SEO decision informed how the pages were structured and written. David from our team led the delivery end to end, working directly with CCE to make sure the site reflected the college accurately and completely.
Understanding what a regulated HE provider actually needs online
Before a single page was built, we mapped out everything CCE needed: course pages, subject area overviews, entry requirements, fee information, the full suite of compliance and policy documents required of a UK higher-education institution, and the structural pages that give a prospective student confidence they are dealing with a properly run college. That scoping exercise shaped everything that followed.
More than 40 pages, built properly from the ground up
We built the new site from scratch. Every course programme in Business, Computing, and Leadership and Management received its own clearly structured page, written to speak directly to the kind of learner CCE serves: someone with work experience, career goals, and a need to understand exactly what they are signing up for. Alongside those, we built and published all the compliance and policy pages a regulated institution needs to have live and accessible, from admissions policies through to safeguarding documentation. Nothing was left as a placeholder.
Technical foundations, on-page optimisation, and local visibility
The SEO programme ran in parallel with the build rather than as an afterthought. We handled on-page optimisation across every page, put the technical foundations in place, and structured the site to support local search visibility for learners in North London and beyond who are actively comparing HE options. The site was built to be found, not just to exist.
One team, from brief to launch
Because the same team handled both the build and the SEO, CCE had one point of contact for the entire project. There was no handover between a web agency and a separate SEO supplier, no duplication of effort, and no risk of the two sides working to different priorities. David saw the project through from the first conversation to the day the site went live.
More than 40 pages built properly from the ground up
Every course programme, compliance requirement, and policy page was planned, structured, and written as a single cohesive project - giving CCE a complete, professional online presence rather than a patchwork of placeholder content.

The detail behind the 40-plus page rebuild
Course and programme pages
Each subject area, Business, Computing, and Leadership and Management, received dedicated, clearly structured pages covering the curriculum, entry requirements, progression routes, and what prospective students can expect from studying at CCE. Written to convert a browser into an applicant, not just to list what is on offer.
Compliance and policy content
A UK higher-education provider carries a significant compliance responsibility. We structured and published every required policy page, from admissions and appeals through to safeguarding and equality, so the site meets the standards expected of a regulated institution and gives prospective students and regulators a complete picture.
Full SEO programme
We implemented a complete SEO programme built into the site from day one. On-page optimisation, technical foundations, structured content, and local visibility signals, all designed to put CCE in front of learners actively searching for flexible higher-education options in North London and across the UK.
Navigation and site structure
A site with 40-plus pages only works if prospective students can find what they need without friction. We structured the navigation and internal linking so that a learner arriving on any page can quickly reach the course that interests them, the entry requirements, or the application process, without getting lost.
Brand and credibility signals
CCE's navy and gold brand identity needed to come through clearly. We made sure the site looked like a serious higher-education institution, with consistent typography, a coherent visual language, and the kind of professional finish that gives a prospective student the confidence to take the next step.
Built for the learner CCE serves
Most of CCE's students are balancing study with work or other commitments. The site was written and structured with that person in mind: clear answers to the questions a working adult actually asks, flexible study information that is easy to find, and an application process that does not feel daunting.
A credible, fully structured online presence that finally does justice to an institution established in 1987
Before working with us, CCE had nearly four decades of expertise, a respected set of Pearson-validated qualifications, and a genuinely flexible offer for working adult learners. What it did not have was a website that communicated any of that with confidence. The old site was not a platform for growth. It was a gap between what the college was and what prospective students could see.
After the rebuild, that gap is closed. CCE now has a properly structured, professionally presented site with clear course pages, all required compliance content, and the technical SEO foundations to support real search visibility. Prospective students arrive on a site that looks and reads like a serious higher-education institution, because it is one. The college can direct applicants to it with confidence, use it in its marketing, and build on it as the business grows.
It is also a site built to last. Because we handled the structure, the content, and the SEO together as a single piece of work, the foundations are sound. There are no quick fixes underneath it, no pages that exist only as placeholders, and no technical debt waiting to become a problem.
